You may know her famously from "Titanic," or "Two and a Half Men."

This isn't Kathy Bates' first rodeo with cancer. So what's different? She won't need chemo or radiation this time around.

Kathy Bates has taken on cancer yet again. Diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in 2003, the "Titanic" actress says she's fully aware cancer shows itself in oftentimes baffling ways and when you least expect it.

She says, "I didn't feel nauseous. I didn't feel anything wrong, but I just sport of spit up like a baby would. I was really surprised."

So when she "felt off" several weeks ago and was diagnosed with breast cancer, she wasn't surprised.

She recently went public with her second bout with cancer and had been, for the most part, silent on Twitter since the end of May, shortly after her show "Harry's Law" was canceled by NBC.

This week, in a two–part Twitter message she wrote:

"Hey all, sorry for the long silence. I was diagnosed with breast cancer 2 months ago & am recovering from a double mastectomy. I don't miss my breasts as much as I miss Harry's Law. ;–) Thanks for all the sweet tweets. Y'all kept me going."

If there's anything she's learned through all of this and anything she wants to share, it's awareness.

She adds, "To just urge women to pay attention to what's going on in their body and they know themselves than anybody. We all know ourselves better than anybody else."

And if there's just a little bit of Bates in the many gutsy women she's played on TV, it's no surprise she's handling the diagnosis with such confidence and perseverance.

Bates is expected to talk more about her recovery when she makes her next red carpet appearance later this month at Emmy's. The Oscar winner is nominated for her role on "Harry's Law" as well as gig on "Two and a Half Men."
