Sioux City, IA - Morningside quarterback Joel Nixon is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Offensive Player-of-the-Week. Nixon, a senior from Wakefield, Nebraska, led fourth ranked Morningside to a 35-10 win against Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln. Nixon completed 17 of 31 passes for 374 yards the 12th highest passing total in Morningside history. He also accounted for 28 yards rushing giving him 402 yards of total offense on the night. Nixon has led the Mustangs to a 3-0 start on the 2012 season. Next up for the Morningside Mustangs (3-0, 2-0) is Midland University (2-0, 2-0) on September 22 at 1pm in Sioux City, Iowa.
Northwestern line backer Aaron Jansen is this week's GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Defensive Player-of-the-Week. Jansen, a senior, from Orange City, Iowa, helped lead 17th ranked Northwestern 28-14 win over 16thanked Doane. Jansen accounted for 8.5 total tackles with seven solo and three assisted tackles. The senior linebacker also had three tackles for a loss of six yards. Jansen played an instrumental role in holding the Doane offense to 234 yards, which is over 200 yards less than their average on the season. Northwestern (2-1, 1-1) will take on non-conference foe Dakota State (0-4) next week in Orange City at 1 PM at Korver Field.
