Lincoln, NE - Brandon Smith scored on a three-yard run in overtime, his third touchdown of the game, to give #15 Northwestern a 33-27 win over Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln, Neb. Northwestern improves to 2-1 in the GPAC, 4-1 overall, while NWU falls to 0-4 in the GPAC, 1-4 overall.
Smith ran for 56 yards on 19 carries while his partner in crime, Theo Bartman, gained 74 on 16 touches with one score. Quarterback Davis Bloemendaal completed 16 passes for 250 yards with two touchdown strikes.
Linebacker Nate Fischer put together a solid outing on defense racking up nine tackles and two sacks. Defensive Tackle Jordan Carlson continues his havoc on opposing quarterbacks as he chalked up another sack as well as piling up four tackles.
The Red Raiders will host Midland (2-3) next weekend in Orange City, Iowa.
