Des Moines, IA police confirm that a mountain lion has been shot and killed Thursday morning. The mountain lion was found near two schools.
An officer shot the big cat near a greenhouse in the backyard of a home. The area is close to Harding Middle School and Madison Elementary School. Police say the male mountain lion is 6 feet 3 inches tall.
