The University of South Dakota Vermillion campus will be officially smoke free on come January. Basically it will be fellow students responsibility to tell people who are smoking that it's a smoke free campus. We spoke to a few students today who give the ban a mixed review.

"I like the smoking ban... I don't really like walking in to a cloud of smoke walking into a building," says law student Jackson Schmidt.

"I'm not a smoker myself, but I know a lot of people who are upset about it... and I don't think it's really fair how they went about it," said senior Ashley Wagner.

"I don't smoke personally but the people that do, it doesn't really matter to me. It's their choice," said freshman, Skyler Russenberger.

"I think it's a good idea, but I think they are going to have a difficult time enforcing it," said senior Valerie Menning.

Earlier, USD President James Abbott said that smoking is a health issue, and it's the university's responsibility to promote a healthy lifestyle.
