The University of South Dakota had a lot to celebrate about at this year's homecoming days, "Dakota Days".
The school turned 150 years old this year.
The big birthday and homecoming week brought back alumni from all around the area.
Many of them, were glad to be back on "Coyote Ground" and see lots of old friends.
"We've got a lot of past friends that come down here. We go to the "Tailgate Nation" run into some more people there. It's just great." said USD alum John Decker.
For this year's Dakota Days Parade and big birthday celebration, the school went all out and brought back one of its very own special alum, popular television news journalist, Tom Brokaw.
Brokaw said coming back reminds him of how USD and the town of Vermillion has shaped him into the man he is today.
"It's always helped me as a reporter to have come from a place like this. Come back, and ride down Main Street, see ordinary people who enjoy these kinds of occasions and see their families gather together."
Brokaw shared the position of parade marshal with his wife, Meredith.
After the parade, they both looked forward to be doing some much needed catching up with some old time friends.
"The great thing for us is just to be with our friends again and to see how well so many of them have done over the years."
