The city of Sioux City has deemed the house at 1818 Grandview Boulevard as "unlivable."

The city said the inside of the house is severely damaged and that there is cat urine and fecal matter everywhere.

The home is now "red tagged" in which the owner now has six months to fix it up and meet city inspection, or the city will take the matter to Council.

The City Council can either grant the owner another 90 days to fix the house, or it will be demolished.

Right now, the City Inspector says even despite the damages, a house like this still has a chance to be saved.

"I would say this has a pretty good structure to it. Chances of it being saved are probably fairly decent," said Darrel Bullock, Sioux City Inspection Services Supervisor.

Since the cats were taken from the home last Monday, seven of the original 76 cats have died.

Come Tuesday morning, a judge will determine whether they will be adopted out or euthanized.
