Tuesday night, the Sioux City Community School District will ask the school board to approve its "Race To The Top" grant application.
If approved, the school district will get anywhere from $20 to $30 million dollars from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant can be used over four years.
If the district actually gets the money, it plans to add two days of teacher training each summer, hire at least 38 more technology staff members, and expand the 1:1 laptop initiative to middle schoolers.
The school board is expected to vote on the proposal on the 22nd.
