Missouri River Historical Development or MRHD, who holds Woodbury County's gaming license, and Sioux City Entertainment, Inc, a subsidiary of Las Vegas-based Warner Gaming, have come up with a plan to submit to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission that could potentially bring a Hard Rock Casino to downtown Sioux City.
What would be called Hard Rock Sioux City, would be located downtown at the old Battery Building. The building is also known as the Clock Tower on Water Street. It's expected to be a $100 million project.
The deadline for non-profits and interested casino operators to submit a proposal for a land-based casino in Woodbury County is November 1st.
Remember, Penn National Gaming, the Argosy's current operator still feels it has exclusive rights to operate a proposed casino in Woodbury County, and a back and forth legal battle on whether it actually does have these rights, still continues with MRHD.
The two have tried to come up with an agreement on a contract extension for months, but haven't been able to get one approved by the IRGC.
