Police responded to a call that an SUV was on fire around 12:45 Thursday morning near Stone State Park, just off the Sioux River Road.
Police say the SUV was stolen from a residence in North Sioux City Wednesday night.
When they arrived on the scene the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames.
The SUV had been driven about 40 feet off the road, and stopped just shy of the Big Sioux river.
At this time, fire officials are unaware of how the fire started.
No one was in the vehicle at the time of the fire, and an investigation is currently underway.
