Iowa City, IA (AP) - It's been years since Iowa had a true center or a star point guard.

Hawkeyes coach Fran McCaffery might have landed both in a single recruiting class _ and it doesn't hurt that they're homegrown kids either.

Freshman center Adam Woodbury and point guard Mike Gesell, who hail from Sioux City, Iowa, and South Sioux City, Neb., respectively, headline perhaps the best crop of newcomers the Hawkeyes have had in recent memory.

Both were consensus top-100 recruits and Iowa-based AAU teammates. They'll be asked to play a major role in Iowa's quest to end a seven-year NCAA tournament drought.

Those two freshman are joined by former Sioux City Heelan standout Zach McCabe who is one of the top returners for the Hawkeyes.  McCabe is set to be a major contributer in the starting lineup during his junior season.
