On Tuesday, Senator Chuck Grassley toured Sabre Industries and the industrial park to see how things were coming along.
When finished, Sabre Industries will be the first manufacturing operation in Southbridge, making it a big stepping stone in helping the park come to life.
"I think it's just marvelous that people who could have gone to some bigger city and are located in other states as well, keep a big facility like this here and home base here," said Grassley.
The senator has put forth a strong effort in the Southbridge Park.
He helped Sioux City receive a $3 million dollar federal grant for a rail yard that will go in the industrial park.
The rail yard will make it easier for Sabre to ship out its products across the nation.
The senator said Sabre and the new rail yard is just a reflection of how economic friendly Sioux City has become.
"It proves that Siouxland is a very inviting place for industry, particularly in manufacturing. When we're complaining legitimately about a lot of manufacturing leaving the United States, it's nice to have it here," the senator added.
Sabre Industries is currently in phase one of construction.
It hopes to finish most of the construction by December 11st and begin production then.
Funding for the rail yard is about $2 to 3 million dollars short. Sioux City is currently trying to receive more federal grants.
