It's a sturdy foundation to not only place a few bets, but, for the time being, provide over 300 people with a job. But the lease on the dock connecting the Argosy Casino with Sioux City is expiring in just over 3 months.
At Wednesday's hearing in Des Moines between the Argosy's owner and its gaming license holder concerning disagreements over a land-based casino, the attorney for Sioux City Entertainment, the gaming operator partnering with the Missouri River Historical Development to propose a Hard Rock-themed casino in Sioux City, said the expiring lease is an additional, possibly more threatening issue for employees .
The city of Sioux City is in charge of renewing the lease.
City officials could not comment on this story in time for our broadcast.
