Wednesday night for Halloween the Sioux City Police Department would like to stress the importance of being safe and seen during Halloween night.

"Leading cause of incidents on Halloween is pedestrian accidents, so we want to make sure that we're very cautious," said Crime Prevention Officer Chad Sheehan of the Sioux City Police.

Parents can do the following things to make sure their children are seen by drivers:

1) Have children carry a flashlight or wear reflective clothing.

2) Make sure to cross streets in groups at crosswalks or street corners.

3) Make sure your children's costumes will allow them to walk and see properly.

When collecting candy, make sure to only go to houses with the outdoor light on and never walk into a house to get candy.

Trick-or-treating in Sioux City and South Sioux will go from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday night.
