If you want to vote before Tuesday, you can do so this weekend in Sioux City. Early voting in Woodbury county and Dakota county ends Monday – the day prior to the general election. Over 20,000 absentee ballots have now been returned in Woodbury county – that's slightly above the number received during the 2008 election. Voters we spoke to appreciate having the extra time and convenience to select their candidates. Troy Hammond of Climbing Hill, IA says, "My sister–in–law actually pointed out that I needed to come down here and get this done and I followed the signs. Friendly folks in here and just come right in, get it all done, and away we go." John Stewart of Sioux City also voted ahead of the election. "I didn't know what the weather was going to be like come Tuesday. This just seemed like the right thing to do. It's a duty and an honor to be able to do it, so therefore why don't we get here as early as we could?"

Early voting can be done at either the Long Lines Rec Center or at the Courthouse this weekend. Long Lines will be open Saturday from 8 AM - 6 PM, Sunday from Noon-5 PM, and Monday 8 AM - 4:30 PM. The Courthouse will be open 8 AM - 6 PM Saturday, closed on Sunday, and open Monday from 8 AM - 4:30 PM.

If you're planning to vote by mail, those ballots must be postmarked by Monday.
