Candidate for U.S. Representative in South Dakota pitched his ticket to college students on Sunday.
Democratic challenger Matt Varilek spoke at the University of South Dakota's Muenster University Center. He's running against incumbent Republican Representative Kristi Noem.
Varilek says young voters are absolutely crucial to his campaign.
"I think issues affecting young people have been significant in the campaign. For example, the fact that I support protecting Pell Grants so that a lot of people are able to go to college even if they come from moderate to low income background," said Matt Varilek.
And Senator Tim Johnson of South Dakota was also there Sunday, lending his credentials to the event.
Johnson endorsed Varilek, who worked as the Senator's aide for nearly 7 years.
Also in Siouxland pushing for those last minute votes was Democratic candidate for Congress Christie Vilsack.
She stopped by one of the pop-up Democratic campaign offices at the American Legion Hall in Sioux City to thank volunteers who are urging folks to get out and vote.
Vilsack said, "Because we've been tied, we feel like we have the momentum. So, for us, it's a matter of getting people out to vote and getting the absentee ballots back in and getting people to go to the polls on Tuesday. It's essential in my race for sure."
Vilsack says wind energy and getting a farm bill passed are some of her top priorities.
Vilsack's running against long-time Republican incumbent Steve King.
