Shortly around 11 O'clock Tuesday night, Congressman Steve King took the stage as the winner, and representative of Iowa's New 4th COngressional District. King admits this race, against Democratic opponent Christie Vilsack was the* most challenging race of his political career.
"They will spend five to ten million dollars against me... and they have... and you stood up and defended our values..." said King.
The race for Iowa's 4th Congressional District is now the most expensive congress race in Iowa's history; both campaigns spending more than $6 million combined. But now with 11 campaigns behind him, Congressman King says his victories always comes down to Iowan's conservative values, and re-storing the American dream.
He's just consistent in what he says, what he thinks and what he does. And that's why we like him in Northwest Iowa," said Rob Germann, Wall Lake, IA.
"Well it's a piece of mind, but it's been a piece of mind for the last ten years because he's our strongest voice in Congress. What he will do, is take our voice back to Washington," said Lisa Wagner, Storm Lake, IA.
In his acceptance speech Tuesday night, King reiterated his priorities to appeal the President's health care law and balance the budget.
"There will be no slacking off on this job. The job looks like it's harder now than it might have been given some of the returns around the country. That means we re-double our efforts, we quadruple our efforts. I see your faces and I know that I have that charge to stand up for the things we all believe in," said King.
Congressman King won with approximately 54 percent of the vote.
