Every kid should get to ride a bike. And now that wish came true for Dezy Konken.

Dezy uses wheelchair to get around most of the time, but now she has some sweet new wheels. The best part is – this bike suits her needs perfectly.

And it was free to Dezy's family because of Variety, The Children's Charity, and generous businesses like Fareway and Wal–Mart.

For Dezy's mom, she says this was a moment she'll never forget.

"I just love that moment, you know, like, when she took her first step when she was three years old and said her first word, you know, that joy in your heart you know, so yeah, that was a big thing," said Eugenia Konken, Dezy's mom.

Eugenia says her daughter actually had no idea she was getting a bike. But now she's looking forward to racing her two little sisters on their bikes.

Channel 9 KCAU-TV is proud to help raise money for Variety, The Children's Charity through their annual telethon.
