Some people are just born with a song in their heart. Kelsey Klingensmith, a young singer/songwriting, is one of them. And with a talent that's bigger than she is, she's using the best way she knows how to reach out to cancer patients.
As this Moville music star works to launch her own career, she just keeps giving back to others along the way.
"I really want to give back because I just feel like God gave me this gift to help others and I just feel so blessed to be able to sing and I love what I get to do," says Kelsey.
Kelsey performed her hit "Hero in Heels" at this spring's Susan G. Komen Siouxland Race for the Cure. It was even played at the Race for the Cure in Nashville.
It's about the strength of breast cancer survivors, and it was part of the inspiration for Kelsey to once again, use her music to help people in need.
"I just really wanted to use it to help people feel better and raise money for the cause," she says.
Kelsey is releasing her new CD, "Blue Jean Girl" on Friday, and part of the proceeds from her show will go to Sioux City's June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
Country music is known for telling timeless stories. And this little crooner is telling a story of generosity.
Kelsey's CD release show is Friday at 7pm at the Sioux City Music Conservatory. Tickets are five dollars for members and seven for non–members. Kids five and under are free.
