Arrest Made In Sioux City Bank Robbery

26-year-old, Johnnie Hawkins Jr. of Sioux City has been arrested for robbing the Heritage Bank on Singing Hills Boulevard Sunday morning around 7:30. Hawkins confronted a female employee as she was opening the bank, demanded money and displayed a handgun. He did end up leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Sioux City Police and Sergeant Bluff Police eventually tracked down Hawkins in Sergeant Bluff, IA and took him into custody. The Woodbury County Sheriff's Department and the Iowa State patrol also assisted in the arrest.

The money and handgun were recovered. Nobody was injured.

Hawkins is also being charged first degree robbery, assault while participating in a felony and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
