The Woodbury County Commission of Veteran Affairs had their annual Veterans' Day Recognition Ceremony Monday morning.
The program's guest speaker was the commission's chairman, Ronald Kerr who said Veterans' Day is a day we should show our gratitude and say thanks to all those who have served.
"Born of the extraordinary accomplishments comes an extraordinary debt. For their accomplishments and their debts, we must be always grateful," said Kerr.
The young and old participated in the program.
Veterans of the Siouxland Marine Corps League and the Sioux City and Sergeant Bluff American Legions were in attendance as well as the Westwood singers who sang their own rendition of "America the Beautiful".
For veterans who went, they said the program overall was a good one.
"It was very enjoyable. You know everything is right when they play the national anthem and you still get a chill going down your back. It makes a guy feel pretty good to see the participation of the young and old, it just gives you a warm feeling," said Dan Lefebvre with the Sergeant Bluff American Legion.
Besides the Westwood singers, other young students were involved with the ceremony.
Noah Winkle, a 4th grade student from Holy Cross School led the pledge of allegiance.
