You may have campaign fatigue, but Mike Flood's just getting started.
With his wife and 2 sons by his side, Republican Nebraska Speaker of the Legislature Mike Flood kicked off his campaign for Governor right where he calls home.
And he thinks his record in the State Senate speaks for itself.
Sen. Flood said, "I fought for issues like banning late term abortions, saving Keystone XL Pipeline and rerouting it out of the Sand Hills. Cutting taxes, respecting life, preserving the death penalty."
Flood is running against some stiff competition though. Current Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy has already received an endorsement from Governor Dave Heineman.
"I think, obviously, I'm an underdog in this race but I'm not going to be outworked. I'm going to get out there and meet Nebraskans. Lt. Sheehy is a friend of mine, he's a good guy," said Flood.
Flood says he'll focus on cutting spending, lowering taxes and improving infrastructure in the Cornhusker Stat
Also, Flood says there are more jobs than people in Nebraska and that needs to change, starting in schools.
"Getting those kids exposed to the technical trades, getting community colleges in the high schools so that by the time they graduate high school, they've already got some credit and they're moving toward a technical degree. I think that's one of the biggest issues in Nebraska," said Flood.
37-year old Flood has been working in the state legislature for 8 years, is an attorney and a radio station owner.
But now, he's known as the first person to officially dip their toes into the 2014 race to the Nebraska Governor's Office.
