The victims of a house fire in Lake City, IA early Tuesday morning have been identified.  Family members chose not to speak about the incident, but did tell Channel 9 Eyewitness News that 22-year-old Tyra Pierson, 10-month old Xavier Pierson, 3-year-old Wyatt Pierson and 8 year-old Madison Pierson were killed in the blaze.

Tyra is the mother to 10-month-old Xavier.  She was babysitting her younger brother and sister, Wyatt and Madison, when the fire broke out.

As previously reported, a Lake City Police Officer noticed smoke around 2 a-m and alerted fire officials.  By the time crews got on scene, the house at 703 S. Illinois was fully engulfed.

Fire officials are currently investigating the cause of the fire.

Three children and an adult were killed in a house fire in Lake City, IA early Tuesday morning. 

Fire crews were called to the home at 703 S. Illinois Street shortly before 2am after a police officer noticed suspicious smoke coming from the south end of Lake City.  When they arrived the house was fully engulfed in flames.

Four people were trapped inside the home.  Officers tried to get into the home, but were forced back due to the intense heat and smoke.  The Iowa State Fire Marshall's office has confirmed that it was a fatal fire claiming the lives of three children and an adult.  Their names will be released once family has been notified.
