The University Of South Dakota held a special ribbon cutting during their final event of their "Honor Your Veterans" week.

The event was in dedication to the grand opening of their Veterans Resource Room, located in the Student Temporary Center.

The room is specifically for student veterans to get away, focus on their studies and be among their veteran friends.

Brendan Whalen, president of the schools Veterans Club, says it is more like a "safe haven" for student veterans.

"Veterans, and even community area veterans, are welcome here to come in relax, decompress, because sometimes the library or The University Center is just too busy, crowded and loud," he said.

The room includes a flat screen T. V., computers and couches for veterans to kick back and connect with other veteran students.
