Stores like Target and Walmart are opening their doors at 8 O'clock on Thanksgiving night, starting their Black Friday deals a day early. And now some store employees are speaking out, and so are folks in Siouxland.

Thousands of employees from stores like Target and Walmart are taking to the Internet to voice their disapproval over having to work on Thanksgiving this year. A petition led by change.org, shows more than 200,000 people showing their support for retail employees, saying its wrong they have to work on Thanksgiving. And many folks in Siouxland agree.

"I think it's ridiculous these people have to work. People should be able to enjoy time with their families," said Marsha Harman, of Kingsley, IA.

"Give people a day off. It's gotten so commercialized, let's forget about money money money. Enjoy your families and go from there," said Chuck Penning of Sioux City.

Channel 9 spoke with a representative from the Target corporate office Wednesday, who had this to say about opening at 8p.m. on Thanksgiving.

"Target's opening time was carefully evaluated with our guests, team and the business in mind. Across the country, team member preferences were considered in creating our store staffing schedules..."

Stores like Best Buy and Kohl's are sticking with their Black Friday traditions and opening the doors at Midnight.
