A natural gas leak forced one family from their home this morning. The leak occurred around 9:30 AM at the bend where Morningside Avenue and Sherman Avenue meet. MidAmerican Energy says a contractor was digging there and severed the gas line. Sioux City Fire Rescue and utility crews were quick to respond. Sioux City Assistant Fire Chief, Brad Robinson, says, "MidAmerican's on the scene and they're gonna dig back away from the break. They'll go ahead and clamp it off...the gas line at that point."

Fortunately, nobody was injured. Officials say that homes along Oleander Road may lose gas for a few hours this afternoon as utility workers repair the line.
