It is a very sad day for some in America.

Hostess announced today that it will layoff more than 18-thousand employees, and sell the company to the highest bidder.

This is all in response to a nationwide workers strike that started on Nov. 9th.

Employees were given a 5 p.m. deadline last night to end the strike, but the company is now shutting down all operations. Which means there will be no more goodie favorites such as Twinkies, Zingers and Mini-Donuts.

And some folks, like James Ellis, believe it is a favorite past time.

"It's a disappearing history to me, that's going down," Ellis said.

Other people say they are convinced Twinkies and Ding Dongs are not gone for good, and that another company will buy Hostess and pick up the tradition.
