UPDATE: Mac Behrs Shooting Victim Name Released

UPDATE: We now know the name of the woman who was shot at Mac Behr's Saturday night. Police say she is Natacha Butera and she is listed in fair condition at Mercy Medical Center. According to online records she is a foreign exchange student at Briar Cliff University.

Briar Cliff has issued the following statement:

"The Briar Cliff community is very saddened about this unfortunate situation. Our main concern is for the well-being and continued recovery of the victim. We are working together to attend to her needs and those of her family and friends and of our students. We are respecting the privacy requested by the family."

UPDATE:

According to court paperwork, the 20-year old victim in this weekend's shooting was not the intended target. The woman was shot in the right arm and chest. The bullet passed through her liver and right lung, and is currently resting near her left breast.

The shooter, 24-year old Solomon Harris, fired a .45 caliber pistol at an individual who allegedly punched him.

Solomon stated during a recorded interview that he was just trying to scare the unknown man.

The name of the 20-year old victim has not been released.

We'll give you more information as soon as it becomes available.

UPDATE:

The owners of Mac Behrs have posted a response on their Face book page to the shooting that took place Saturday night/early Sunday morning at their establishment.
 
"Our thoughts and prayers go towards the victim and the family of the victim from last night who was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is unfortunate what happened last night at MacBerhs but, we are trying all we can to keep a safe environment for all of our patrons. We as a business are not to blame for this. It was the person's choice to think he had to carry a gun into a bar which we don't approve. Alcohol and any weapons don't mix at anytime. We ask that you have faith in us and continue to support us locally owned bar. Thank You."
A female was shot in the chest late Saturday night/early Sunday morning outside of Mac Behrs on 1201 4th street. The incident happened around 1:12 AM. Sioux City police responded immediately. A female victim suffered a bullet would in the chest and was immediately sent to Mercy Medical Center.

24-year old Soloman Harris was arrested on the scene. He was arrested for assault, wilful injury, intimidation with a dangerous weapon and reckless use of a fire arm.

Any information on the victim and any details as to how the incident started, is currently being withheld by the Sioux City Police.

We will update any new information as soon as it becomes available.
