It's been another day of violence in the Middle East. The death toll continues to climb with almost 100 Palestinians now dead.
Israel continues pounding Palestinians targets in Gaza launching a new wave on air strikes Monday against what it calls "military sites" and Hamas militants have fired rockets on southern Israel.
Israel has warned that if a peace agreement isn't reached Monday it could launch a ground invasion.
For many of us, the missile strikes and violence in Israel and Palestine is a world away. But for some, it's far too close to home.
Rabbi Guy Greene with the Congregation Beth Shalom in Sioux City has several family members in and around Israel.
Here's a little glimpse of what they're feeling right now:
"Very agitated and very upset. They're fearful of what could be happening to Israel in terms of these bombings. This is definitely not new to them," said Rabbi Greene.
The Rabbi feels encouraged by President Obama's continued support for Israel and hopes the escalated violence won't lead to our involvement in a war.
To show the honest fear on both sides, he gives us a bit of perspective on the issue:
"If there was bombings from South Sioux over into Sioux City and people within 30-45 seconds had to get shelters at any time, day or night. Bringing their small children and babies in the middle of the night, that would be horrific," said Rabbi Greene.
Rabbi Greene says a political settlement is the answer for peace. He says most Israelis are in support of a two state region, but for them, Jerusalem will never go to Palestine.
