A police chase through downtown Storm Lake ended in the parking lot of the Buena Vista County Sheriff's office early Sunday Morning.
Storm Lake Police attempted to stop 29-year old Robert Baccam around 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning for failure to yield. Baccam took off, and led authorities on a chase that wound through the streets of Storm Lake at speeds up to 40 mph.
The vehicle eventually turned onto Richland Drive and was boxed in by police cars in the parking lot of the Buena Vista County Sheriff's office.
Officers swarmed the car and allegedly struggled with officers before being taken to the ground and subdued.
Baccam sustained minor injuries to his face and ribs during the struggle with police. No officers were injured and no damage was reported.
After being booked into the jail, Baccam became medically unstable and was transferred to Sioux City for medical treatment.
Authorities say that Baccam was under the influence of methamphetamine at the time of the chase.
He's been charged with 3rd offence OWI, Driving While Barred, Eluding Law Enforcement, Reckless Driving, Speeding and Interfearing with Official Acts. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $8,900 cash bond.
