Jackson Recovery Centers announced plans to build a $9 million Child and Adolescent Recovery Hospital, expanding upon Jackson's existing drug and alcohol addiction treatment services.  Hospital plans include a 12-bed Child and adolescent psychiatric crisis and stabilization unit, 72 inpatient beds for adolescents with substance abuse and co-occurring psychiatric issues.  The new facility will also provide for expansion of child and adolescent outpatient, family education and prevention programs.

The new 48,000 square foot building will be built on undeveloped land on West Fourth Street, west of River Hills Recovery Center.  Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2014.  The hospital would provide an additional 25 more jobs, adding about $1.4 million in salaries and benefits to the agency's payroll and to the Siouxland economy.

Jackson will provide approximately $3 million of funding and is requesting the remaining $6 million needed through the sale of bank qualified tax-exempt bonds, authorized by Woodbury County.

Dahlen says "Jackson is committed to meeting the ever-changing addiction-related needs of our community and this hospital will fill a gap in services present in Siouxland for children and adolescents suffering from mental health and addiction related issues."
