Iowa City, Iowa - The Heroes Trophy will remain in Lincoln as the Nebraska Cornhuskers defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes, 13-7 at Kinnick Stadium.
Rex Burkhead, who hadn't played since Oct. 20, scored the go-ahead touchdown, but it was Alonzo Whaley's fourth quarter interception that locked down the Heroes Trophy for the Cornhuskers.
The Huskers now will play for their first ever Big Ten title game against Wisconsin next Saturday in Indianapolis.
Mark Weisman powered ahead for 91 yards on 29 carries for Iowa, but James Vandenberg's two interceptions and 46% completion percentage proved too costly for the Hawkeyes.
