Nicole Rolling of Sioux City knew there was something special about Nathan Hunt when she met him over a year ago at church.
Nicole Rolling of Sioux City said, "We had mutual friends and we always ended up kind of going to the same places together and we'd always hang out around each other and I think it was just like a 'hey, why not?'"
It wasn't long before the two started talking engagement. But how would be propose? Well, that's where the story gets good.
Nathan works on his family's farm between Salix and Sloan. It was there where he got to thinking.
Nathan Hunt of Sgt. Bluff, IA said, "I have a lot of time to myself sometimes when I'm out there plowing fields and stuff. And I'm getting to be pretty good at the GPS trackers and stuff which is how I did it."
With that, he set to work on a massive, half a mile long project: carving out the infamous, meaningful words in his soybean field.
It read, "Nicole, will you marry me?" or, so he thought.
"It originally said 'Nicloe, will you marry me?' I messed up her name. I mixed around an 'L' and an 'O'. That was a bad day," said Nathan.
Nathan pulled through though. He crossed it out and added her name at the end instead.
Crisis averted, on November 17th, it was then up, up and away.
Nicole didn't say yes right away. "Longest 3 seconds I've ever heard," said Nathan.
But the word eventually did come out. And really, how can you say anything else after a gesture like that?
Now, the couple is planning a wedding for late next summer.
The real question: How will Nathan outdo the proposal? Good lucky, buddy.
