The owners of a red tagged property in Sioux City are getting another chance.

Monday night the Sioux City City Council voted to give the owners of 1417 Douglas until the 17th of January to completely refurbish the apartment building.

So far the city has given a little over a year to get the work done. Sioux City Mayor Bob Scott said, "1417 Douglas has been deferred, deferred, deferred and finally we're saying it better be completely done January 17th, and quite frankly in my personal standpoint if she's 98% done and not done I'm voting to tear it down. It's been going on long enough. The neighborhood deserves better than that."

The owner says they've been un-able to get the property up to code because of money and a lack of help.
