The Siouxland Food Bank collected a more than $20,000 gift on Thursday night. The local nonprofit was the beneficiary of the 20th Annual Festival of Trees auction. Sixty one-of-a-kind Christmas trees on display at the Ho Chunk Center went up for bid. Bids ranged from $60 to $1,300.
Siouxland Food Bank Executive Director Linda Scheid said, "We are so blessed to be part of Siouxland. It's such a generous community who really steps up to take care of those who are less fortunate. We really see that everyday at the Food Bank. But a night like tonight is really a shining example of how people look after others."
Critics Choice Awards were handed out to the designers of 6 trees.
