Debbie Ehlrich and her fiancé usually stay in on Friday nights, but this Friday they decided to try something a little different.

Siouxland Safety Services offers dozens of concealed weapons permits courses, but this is the first one that's "couples only."
"It's the reason why we came. So we could kind of hang out together and do it together," said Ehlrich.
Aaron Iacino, the instructor of the course, says he got the idea to start a couple's course after what he was seeing in his other courses.
"I haven't taught a class recently where I didn't have a married couple in it. And a lot of gals are getting in to the shooting sport. And carry to protect themselves," said Iacino.
The four hour course offers information on all the fundamentals, plus gun safety, storage, how to carry and what to carry. For Ehlrich's fiancé, who already has his concealed weapons permit for Iowa, it's a re-fresher, but it also gives him peace of mind knowing his wife to be will be well taken care of.
"If you're a victim, or in the wrong place at the wrong time, you're more prepared to defend yourself of people in your family. I think it's good to have as much knowledge as you can," said Gay Rector, Sioux City.
This is the first couple's course Siouxland Safety Services has offered, but it plans to offer a lot more in the future.
