Deadly Plane Crash in Correctionville Iowa

Woodbury County Sheriff's Office has confirmed two people are dead after a plane crashed down near Correctionville, Iowa Saturday night. It happened around 8 p.m. Multiple rescue units were called to the scene, at mile marker 18 on Highway 31 in Correctionville. The pilot was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, with what are believed to be "serious injuries. The name of the pilot and two others on board are not being released. It was a "small, privately, owned" plane. Assistant Chief Deputy Doug Boeteger could not release where the plane was flying from or to.

While there was extremely dense fog at the time of the incident, no cause has been determined.

A section of Highway 31 near mile marker 18, was closed Saturday night, while crews cleaned up and officials investigated.

One person suffered burns. Victims were sent to a nearby hospital.
