Downtown Le Mars Iowa was lit up like a Christmas tree this Saturday, as dozens of holiday floats rode down Central Avenue in the Annual Holiday Lighted Parade. It's the 15th year in a row the parade has rolled down the street in Le Mars, bringing thousands of people from all over Siouxland together to enjoy such a beloved tradition. There was one thing missing this year though.
"It's the first time we haven't had snow on the ground," said Cheyenne Matheny, of Le Mars.
But winter wonderland or not, the town was filled with holiday cheer, as thousands of families lined the 12-block parade route to take in all the holiday lights and sounds.
"Just the excitement in the air and the lights in their eyes. It's just something very special to the town of LeMars," said Jeanette Schwartz, Hinton, IA.
The parade got started by a group of men from Le Mars, 15 years ago. The oldest one in the group is about to turn 94.
