She comes from Wisconsin. A town that's very small and humble. But her experience? Is anything but.

Shari Black spent 19 years at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and a few years at the Cleveleand Clinic in Ohio, primarily working in the G.U. Oncology program.

Black explains, "So taking care of patients with kidney cancer, prostate cancer, bladder cancer."

She is new to the breast cancer world, but in her short time here, at the June E. Nylen Cancer Center, she's cared for many breast cancer patients and learned a lot in the process.

Black says, "I think these women are really fighters. They have very intense therapy, surgery, I think that it changes them, many of the patients have expressed that. What their outlook on life is and what they really value or what's important to them."

And that is something she can really relate to.

While she has extensive work experience with cancer, she's got real-life experience with it as well.

Black adds, "Actually, my husband passed away about four years ago from kidney cancer, so he actually was treated at the Cleveland Clinic at the time, I actually worked for his Oncologist, so I think that experience greatly shaped who I am, not only as a person, but also as a care provider."

Making Shari the perfect fit for both the Cancer Center and Siouxland.
