AMES, Iowa (AP) _ New data shows more students at Iowa State University have been charged with alcohol-related offences this year than at the University of Iowa.

The Des Moines Register (http://dmreg.co/11yluow ) reports Tuesday that crime data released by the Iowa Board of Regents show a reversal to last year.

The newspaper reports opposing trends at the state's two largest public universities. ISU student alcohol charges increased 27 percent, while that number at U of I dropped 25 percent. The data tracks offenses through September of this year.

More than 430 students at ISU were charged with alcohol-related offenses. That compares with about 330 students at U of I.
