The Pride of the Dutchman Marching Band from Orange City is marching their way to Pasadena, California and the Rose Bowl Parade.

Band Director Steve Connell says, "It is the singularly biggest invitation that any band can get, and we worked for hard for it."

Out of 170 band members, most of them have never been to California.

Andrew Schuiteman, Field Conductor, says, "That's pretty exciting, everyone was pretty stoked, so all that hard work was with it."

It has been 18 years since the last time the band was invited to the Rose Bowl Parade, 18 years of hard work.

Only 20 bands from all over the world receive an invitation to march in the Rose Bowl Parade.

Call it tradition, or call it one of a kind, but the Pride of the Dutchmen Marching Band is unlike any other.

Connell says, "I think the shoes have a lot to do with it, you know we're a unique looking group when we put on our Dutch costumes and our wooden shoes."

The band will march for a total of 6 miles, about two hours, constantly playing.

The band will head to Pasadena on December 27th, and they will stay there for seven days.
