339-people have signed a petition that was turned over to The Sioux City School Board last night.
That petition opposes the current school consolidation plan. The idea on the table is to merge Clark, Crescent Park and Lincoln School into one large, brand new elementary school.
Many parents have told us they are worried that their kids will not get the same attention at a larger school.
School Board President Mike Krysl said that would not be an issue because there would be more space for smaller class rooms. Which means more interaction with their teachers.
"By virtue, of the expanded facilities, the more flexible space and facilities that we have available to us in the newer building is...we can do the right thing and that is to really watch those classrooms closely," he said.
Although nothing is set in stone yet, The School Board is still looking over the proposal. Krysl also said it will take months before they reach a final decision.
