Rome, Ga. - There's no denying the fact Morningside quarterback Joel Nixon has had a special season.
He did so, all the while, by switching back to his old position of quarterback, after playing wide receiver the past three seasons.
But as remarkable as this season was, it was not enough to be named player of the year.
The signal caller that Nixon beat to get to the title game, Jimmy Coy, of Saint Xavier took home the award.
The Morningside Mustangs will play for their first national title Thursday evening at 5:30 CST.
