Sioux City, Iowa - Morningside College women's basketball head coach Jamie Sale won the 300th game of his Morningside career when the Mustangs defeated Dordt College 64-62 on Wednesday.
Sale has a 300-92 record for a .765 winning percentage at Morningside and has a career record of 379-112 for a .772 victory rate in the collegiate ranks. He was the head coach at Briar Cliff University for three years before he came to Morningside.
Sale was named the NAIA Division II National Coach of the Year in 2004, 2005, and 2009 after he guided the Mustangs to NAIA Division II National Championships each of those years. He directed Morningside to a 38-0 record in 2008-09 when the Mustangs became only the second team in history to win the NAIA II title with an undefeated record.
Sale, named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Coach of the Year in 2008 and 2009, has guided Morningside to 10 consecutive NAIA Division II National Tournament appearances, five GPAC regular season championships, and nine consecutive 20-win seasons. The Mustangs won the 2007-08 and 2008-09 GPAC regular season championships with perfect 18-0 league records to become only the second and third teams in league history to win the title with an undefeated record.
The Mustangs, ranked third in the nation in the NAIA Division II, improved their record to 10-1 overall and 5-1 in the GPAC with Wednesday's win against Dordt. Morningside will host Midland University in a 2 p.m. league contest on Saturday.
