What could be better than a rummage sale, right before the holidays? How about a free rummage sale.
Mountains of clothes, piled high on rows of tables, all for the taking.
"At one point this morning, it was just packed," said Arlene Baldes, chairperson at Mayflower Church in Sioux City.
Organizers of this holiday free rummage say well over 500 people walked through the doors Saturday. It's the third time this year the Mayflower Church has hosted a "free" rummage sale. All of these items brought in as generous donations to help someone who may need it this holiday season.
"Pots and pans. And electric things, like waffle irons and blenders. And people who were just thrilled to find it," said Baldes.
Like Lucy Dale, who is shopping for winter coats and presents for her family.
"Save me money, for myself and for my family," said Dale.
But no matter what you are looking for, the best part of it all...
"It's free! Haha," said Ann Luke, Sioux City.
And it's the smile on peoples faces that brings a tear to organizers eyes.
"Because I am so happy it's gone so well. It's been so good to see people having the pleasure of finding things that they need... but things you want," said Baldes.
And because this one was such a huge success, the Mayflower Church plans to hold it's next free rummage sale in March."
