If you've been to a Susan G. Komen Siouxland Affiliate Race for the Cure, you would probably recognize a particular voice at the finish line.
It's that of Bruce Miller, the Race's finish line greeter, who truly believes every survivor that crosses, is celebrating a major victory.
Bruce says, "If you've been through cancer, you want a little more than just, 'Carol, you made it across the finish line,' and so, I thought, let's do something else, so I said, 'You are a winner!' And they loved it. These ladies thought they had really run the race of their lives and they have."
For those of you who know Bruce, you know what kind of an inspiration he is. And it's his passion for life and for Siouxland, that inspired this year's t-shirt design for the McLagan family "Ta Ta's for Teri" Race for the Cure team - in honor of the late Teri McLagan.
Stefanie McLagan, says, "When you cross that finish line and you hear him say that, it's just huge."
While Stefanie and her siblings lost their mother to breast cancer, three years ago, and Steve, his wife, they're still going above and beyond for the cause.
From selling t-shirts, hosting cookouts and garage sales, not to mention all the items they've raffled off, they continue to raise even more money than the year before, raising awareness and bringing together the entire Wayne community in the process.
Proving together, everyone with breast cancer, will be able to hear the words "you are a winner," one day.
