It's time to talk, discuss, and review.

On Monday, Dr. Paul Gausman, Superintendent of Sioux City Schools asked school administrators to review student safety policies and protocols making sure staff know their part in unsafe situations.

"No matter how well we've trained or practice, we can always do a little bit more. This serves as a reminder to us to focus in on that detail," said Gausman.

Right now, Gausman said school safety procedures and protocols have been reviewed and deems them to be very sound, but he encourages parents to stay open and communicate questions or concerns.

He urges parents to keep eyes and ears open and to report anything in their children's school that might put their child in danger.

"The strongest ways for us to improve is to improve our partnerships with parents, guardians and community members about the challenges out in the community, things that they've heard," he added.

At this time, Gausman does want parents to reassure their kids that schools are still a safe place and to not loose trust in their school.

If parents have any questions or concerns regarding the safety of their children, feel free to contact Dr. Gausman and the Sioux City School District at (712) 279- 6667 or through "Ask the Superintendent" on their resources page at www.siouxcityschools.org,
