There were no reports of serious accidents here in Sioux City from Tuesday morning's slick road conditions, but police were out keeping an eye on some dangerous spots. Earlier Tuesday morning, an SUV slid off the road on Highway 75 near the Highway 20 bypass. Some of the most dangerous spots on the roadways are bridges and overpasses like the one on Highway 75, near Gordon Drive, so it's important to take extra precautions when traveling through those types of areas.

"Please be cautious, even if you're driving a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Still slow down, give yourself some extra time. Give yourself some extra space on the roadway as well," said Chad Sheehan, traffic safety officer for Sioux City Police Department.

Officer Chad Sheehan says if you do hit a patch of ice, stay off the brake and ease off the accelerator. The best thing to do is let the car naturally slow down while you try to maintain control.
