For many, it was the thrill of Hollywood that brought them out, to the third and final presentation of what could be Woodbury County's future land–based casino.
Penn National Gaming Representative, Karen Bailey, says, "I mean, look, it's a competitive bid process so we certainly want people to know what we have to offer."
This one, hosted by Penn and it's partnering non–profit: the Greater Siouxland Improvement Association, showcased not one, but two different locations for a potential Hollywood Casino and Hotel.
One in downtown Sioux City, right off Gordon Drive, the other, just north of Salix.
Marc Christofferson of Sioux City weighed in at the presentation, "I think the downtown sites are appealing. I think it will have a bigger impact on Sioux City if it's downtown."
Those in favor of Penn's downtown location, did come with questions, which Penn's representative took the time to answer.
Shenell Conley of Sioux City, said, "I asked her if the street was gonna be closed on Gordon because I do a lot of running around for the job I have, so I don't wanna see a lot of closed streets. There will be none!"
And while Penn is fully aware that the majority of Siouxlanders are more comfortable with its downtown proposal, it will ultimately be up to the state whether that or any other proposal currently on the table gets the green light.
The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission has until April before it makes a decision on a land–based casino in Woodbury County.
