After last week's devastating mass shooting at a Connecticut elementary school, President Obama ordered his administration to come up with new proposals to curb gun violence.
Speaking at the White House, the President said it's time to reinstate the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004, and that the massacre of little children was a wakeup call to everyone. According to the President, "We won't prevent them all but that can't be an excuse not to try, itwon't be easy, but that can't be an excuse not to try."
Vice President Joe Biden will lead the task force, which will also include the Dept of Justice, Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and the Dept of Education. The group will give their recommendations to the President by January, which Mr. Obama says on Congress should implement "without delay."
